Emma's magic blanket

Apparently Emma's purple blanket has magical powers. It has the power to make her invisable. On several occassions she has tried to skip a nap by quietly walking down the steps, sitting at the bottom with her blanket over her head. Also, if we tell her to stop chewing on her nails. She go grabs her blanket and pulls it over her head . . . as if we don't know what she's doing. :) So if you have ever wanted to be invisable you should go out and get a purple blanket like Emma's!

Noah's Ark

Here's my attempt at a Noah's Ark cake and cupcakes. It turned out ok . . . not quite the masterpiece I had invisioned but ok. :)

Jesus will help me

We have been trying to reinforce that Mommy and Daddy will take care of you but God and Jesus take care of everybody to Emma lately. Everytime somethign happens she worries about someone taking care fo someone else. example: she falls down - her answer "this milk will take care of it" or baby falls down - her answer "this blanket will take care of her". I have had a lot of headaches lately because of allergies since I have gotten lax on getting my shots. . . . . with all this said here's the cute story. We were driving in the car a couple of days ago and I was rubbing my head and saying "mommys head hurts. I need to go home and get some medicine." a little bit later she leans her head over on her carseat and says "My head hurts. Jesus will take care fo it" All I could do was say "Yes baby. Jesus will always take care of you. " :)

edit: from Granny's email. Saturday, she was picking at her fingernails. When I told her not to, she said “It’s bleeding………….[pause]…….but Jesus will take care of it

Cute story #2:
Daddy and Emma play this game where if she doesn't want to go to bed he "traps" her in his arms for a minute before going up to bed. So anytime she doesn't want to go right then she runs over to him and says "trap me". He obligizes and they laugh, snuiggle, kiss, and then it's off to bed for her. We were in the car yesterday and I was explaining that she needed to go take a nap when we got home then we would go to the park. She was throwing a fit crying saying "I don't want to take a nap" (the fit itsself proved she needed one but there was no explaining that to a tired 2 1/2 year old) Then she got a pouty mad look on her face, crossed her arms in the carseat, and said 'I'm trapped. I can't go to bed" . . . sneaky . . . but it didn't work. Good thinking outside the box there baby.

4 month stats

Garrett is 4 months old now. He went to the Dr today to get a check-up and his 4 month shots.

stats:
weight: 17lb 3oz (95%tile)
height: 26 1/8 inches (95%tile)
head: 17 inches (75%tile)

The nurse started to say "You can now start him on cereal and begin to start foods" So I told her "He's had rice cereal, applesauce, green beans, and carrots" The Dr came in and saw he'd eaten some and reviewed how to go about it and told me that closer to 6 months he'd begin to eat size 2 jars a couple times a day. . . ummm . . . he started on size 2 jars and is up to 1 1/2 size 2 jars per meal, twice a day. . . yeah I left that info out. I just said "Ok" :)

He can roll from his tummy to his back.
He is super close to rolling from back to tummy.
He scoots himself backwards when on his back.
He holds his head up good while on tummy and when being held.
He coos, "talks", and laughs a lot.
He eats 2 jars of size 2 baby food twice a day.
He sleeps most of the night.
He can grasp at still objects above his head.
He grasps his hands and pulls them to his mouth to chew.
He tries to chew on everything he can!
He smiles all the time. (one dimple :) )
He thinks it's crazy to be still.
He wants to be in the standing position all the time.
He loves it when his big sister pays attention to him.

while daddy's away, the girls will play

With Daddy gone on a youth group trip this week I have tried to make this week extra special for Emma. She is super excited she gets to "steal" daddy's side of the bed and sleep with Mommy. We have also gone to "the big park" (burns park) and played at their playground. We ate at the cheesedip place for dinner. We went to the pool today and are going again tomorrow. She doesn't know it yet but tomorrow we are also going to walmart to get her a new swimming suit. She still misses Daddy and wants to call him each night as well as talk to him on her play phone asking when he's coming home.

Rollin' over!

Garrett rolled over 2 times today!

Boys got ups

Garrett can sure get high if he wants. Once he figures out his arms he'll be set. :) (p.s. don't mind the fed up look on his face. he got picked up and fed right after the picture was taken):)

Sister helps again. I went into the kitchen to fix Garretts milk bottle and all of a sudden he wasn't screaming. I looked around the corner and found this. :) Too cute.

Mommy in training

Here's a shot from our walk this morning. Emma was too cute!

Here's Emma proudly showing off the picture she got in the mail from Caleb and Ian. Thanks boys! We miss you too!

Garrett and Daddy playing together.

Garrett loves to stand up or kneel down next to you. He is so close to rolling all the way over. He gets his chubby legs hiked up and throws then over. He gets about 1/2 way over then stops and lays back down. He can go about 1/2 way from tummy to back as well. It won't be long now. His biggest motivation is to be able to follow Emma around the room. He loves that big sister of his!

Is she worth it?

Poll: Is Tanya worth it?

I have spent the past two days calling all over Searcy. Explaining who I am, who my sister is, and why I'm calling. Hopeing no one thinks I'm a freak adn hangs up on me. All to make sure sweet little 'ol Tanya has houseing for the semester that starts oh in about 4 weeks. So I am taking a poll of whether you think Tanya is worth all that trouble. keep in mind while I am spending all this time and energy on Tanya's houseing situation I am also trying to keep 2 young children fed, happy, and out of trouble. Trying to keep the house somewhat presentable in case someone calls to come see it. So now please leave your comments. Is Tanya worth all this trouble and what should I make her do to make it all up to me? America let your opinions be heard!

Great Great Great Aunt Judy and Uncle Frank

EDIT: (by Matt) Read Marti's comments below about Emma's trip to Blockbuster and then come back to right here... I'll wait (I highlighted them in blue).... ok you're back... when they came home from Granny's house, she told me "Daddy daddy! I got to watch a princess movie!" I asked her if it was good and she keenly observed, "Yes, but it's just for girls. Boys don't like it... boys like BASEBALL!" It was too cute. I think she then realized that she was implying that girls didn't like baseball... because she quickly followed that with "Girls like baseball too, but boys still don't like princesses." She's too smart for her own good! :)

This weekend the kids and I went to Grannya nd Big Daddy's to see them, me-me, po-po, Uncle Frank, and great great great Aunt Judy. Ok so to Emma she's tech. only a great great aunt but the 3rd one is and adjective meaning how great she is. :) We went down friday morning at got there around 12:30 b/c we had to stop twice because Emma said she had to go potty. She apparently had just peed in her pull-up then told me, but at least she's trying. And at the second stop Garrett woke up and wanted some of his bottle. So we got there and ate lunch with Granny and Big Daddy. Went back to their house adn attempted a nap. Didn't work so great. Went to me-po's but they weren't home. Then Emma and I went to Blockbuster to rent her a big girl movie. I told ehr she could pick out whatever movie she wanted. It was too cute to watch her trying to pick which one she wanted. In the end she settled on a Princess Stories one. We went back and watched it. me-po came over after they saw our note. Saturday we got up, ate, and got ready to go to me-po's. We got there right as they were getting ready to eat. :) Emma was a bit apprehinsive at first but soon became good friends with Frank. We played there for a while then Granny took Emma (and me and Garrett) to get her bandgs cut at a real hair cutting place. This is Emma's first "real hair cut". She sat there so still and did great! Then another short nap and dinner at me-pos. Sunday we went to Grannys church and found out emma has learned the generic answer "I learned about Jesus". I asked her "what did you talk about in class?" she said "Jesus" I looked at her coloring page and it said "Moses" hummm . . . ok then. She had fun though, that counts for something. Then it's lunch at me-pos and back out of town to see daddy. It was a fun weekend. We're glad we got to go see everybody.

oh the cute things they say

1. Matt was pouring himself a bowl of captin crunch with crunch berrys yesterday morning. Emma, like always, went up and tried to grab one of the berrys. Matt picked one out and said 'Here you can have the red one" She took it, started to eat it, and truned to him and said "oh also that's pink"

2. She's gotten pretty cute at holding up her hands and saying "Oh no what we gonna do?" at different things.

3. We were in the car driving to go eat lunch today and out of nowhere Emma starts laughing saying "My baby's sitting next to me. I sitting next to her. We're twins. take a picture." (jesse and ned?)

Happy 4th!

Yesterday was the 4th of July. In the morning Emma and mommy played in the sprinkler. Had an hour and a half stand off about eating her lunch, took a decent nap, got in huge trouble for spilling all of brother formula, then left for the fireworks. We went to Isaac house and put Emma and Isaac in his red wagon, Casey pulling most of the way. Garrett was pushed in the umbrella stroller. We walked from Isaacs house to Sherwood Forrest for free hamburgers, hot dogs, balloons, flags, tatoos, and music. While there we got to see the Rhodes and Hoggs. After we'd finished eating we trecked back to Isaacs. The kids played in the back for a while then in the house for a while. FInally it was fireworks time. Kellie and I sat outside on Caseys truckbed while Emma and Isaac ran around their front yard occassionally stopping to "ohhh" at the fireworks. Emma really enjoyed the fireworks and I was glad we were at the Rines where she could see them but didn't have to worry about her running off in a crowd of strangers and Matt could stay inside hold Garrett while he slept. This may turn into a family tradition as long as the Rines stay in that house. :) Thanks Casey, Kellie, and Isaac!
