Grandparent's Weekend 2008

Friday was Grandparent's Day at CAC. The grandparent's were invited to come for a program where each grade sang a song. Then they could go meet their grandchild's teacher and see their room. Finally they had lunch with their grandchild and hopefully (for the teachers) took the child home with them. It is a busy week of preparing and decorating but it turned out great! The 3's and 4's decorate the cafeteria and eat there. The rest of the grades decorate tables in the gym and eat over there. This year's theme was "grandparents get our vote" so we decorated with red, white, and blue.

After the morning program Emma preformed at the half time show at the high school with the big cheerleaders.

This morning, Granny, Big Daddy, Me-me, Po-po, and Tanya all came to Emma's soccer game. Which is really more like a practice but I know it made Emma feel special they all came to watch her. I fell so lucky that at least one side of the family does live close enough to be able to come to things for the kids and make them feel so special and loved and that the other side of the family does such a great job of spoiling them rotten when they are able to see them that they feel loved yet again! What a great family we have!

Here's their Grandparent's Day song.

Here are pictures from Grandparent's Day at school and the Grandparent's soccer game.

Our funny daughter

We were sitting at the dinner table tonight and Emma said a couple of funny things I thought I'd share. . .

We'd been talking about Jesse sending us a Magnet with her and Jeff's picture on it. So we told emma "Did you know Jesse and JEff are getting married?" She thought a second then said "after a mommy and daddy get married, they go to a hotel and the babies start coming out" . . Say what?! I laughed and so did Matt. I asked her "who told you that?" She replied "I just know" . . Sooo all you mommy and daddies out there about o get married . . be wary of hotels!

As if that wasn't enough fun in our night, she went on to have this conversation with her brother . . . .

Garrett was crying because they sang the "bedtime" song while I was gone to the store. Matt overheard Emma saying to him "It's okay Garrett, We don't have to go to bed. Mommy's not home yet. Daddy's doesn't know how to put the kids to bed"

Emma's 1st Soccer practice

Emma had her 1st soccer practice tonight. She did really great at listening to her coaches and following those directions. It looked like she was really enjoying herself as well. Here's some pictures I took from the sidelines.

Children's Church Room 2008

Today started Children's Church for the school year. This year Mrs. Kellie and I are in charge of it all. Kayleigh B. and Kellie painted all the walls. Kayleigh loaned us her artistic talents and made our walls turn out so awesome! Thanks kayleigh! Kellie's dad made child sized pews. I worked on curriculum. Here's our finished product this morning.

Rain Day

It's not a snow day. It's a rain day! Well tech. it's a no electricity at the daycare day. BUt that's such a mouthful. :) I got to work at 7 and left by 9, after calling all the parents and telling them we had no power so we were closed today and tomorrow will be called at a later time. I picked up Emma (her school has power but I didn't want to have to get out later) and we are at home playing the day away. Love it! Hope you guys are having fun days as well!

Musical Family

Those of you who know of my musical abilities don't laugh at the title of this post!

I am so excited to pass down my and Matt's love of Musicals to our kids. Both of our kids can sing most of the Wicked soundtrack. Emma's Bible class has been studying Joseph lately so we rented Donny Osmond's Joseph and now Emma's singing with that soundtrack in the car and all over the house. Then, the other night I recorded Sound of Music on TV (Yeah Tawn!) and watched it with Emma. She liked it too! Way to pass on the love of musicals! . . There are worse things to pass down. :)

Washing the Car

While Daddy was gone the kids and I washed the cars inside and out for him. Mommy vacuumed the insides, cleared the clutter, and wiped down the insides. While the kiddos got to wipe down the outside and spray the outsides (and each other). It was a fun afternoon activity until it was time to go inside . . . . then the drying party began!
